● About Bicycle Ramblings

We don't race. We ramble.

Bicycle Ramblings began as a paper notebook strapped to a handlebar bag — rain-warped pages about headwinds, kind strangers, flat tires and perfect descents. Today bicycleramblings.com is a home for slow cyclists: bikepackers, commuters-turned-tourers, gravel wanderers and anyone who believes the best plan is a loose one.

We test everything we write about. No showroom reviews. Every route is ridden loaded, every tent slept in, every stove boiled in the wind. If a road is boring, we tell you. If a climb breaks you, we tell you that too — and how to love it.

How we rate

Our honesty system: wind, water, wildness

Every route gets three scores from 1–10. Wind exposure, water availability, wild camp ease. No fluff — if you’ll push 12 km in sand, we say so on page one.

● Good to know

Questions from the road

What is Bicycle Ramblings about?

Slow, self-supported cycling: bikepacking, touring, gravel and commuting adventures. We publish routes, gear tests, repair guides and personal essays — all ridden and tested, never rewritten press releases.

Are your routes free?

Yes. Every GPX, cue sheet and camp list on bicycleramblings.com is free to download. We maintain them with reader feedback each season.

What bike do I need to start touring?

The one you have. Start with an overnight 40 km loop, a borrowed tent and low gears. Our beginner guides walk you through bags, fit and packing without buying a new bike.

How do I submit my own ramble?

Ride it, photograph it, write 800+ honest words with a GPX track. Use the contact block below — we read everything and reply within a week during riding season.

Do you do group rides?

Three open ramblings a year: spring gravel, summer tour, autumn overnighter. All paces welcome, no drop, campfire mandatory.
